i haven’t been biking as much to work since my wife has been traveling a lot so i’ve had the car. this + diminishing daylight hours have definitely brought out the SAD bigly. but i’ve also gotten soft—no longer winter commute battle-ready. looking forward to thermal shock this week. best antidote!

there is going to be so much discourse about this moving forward. have to pre-empt the distracting solutions (ie. we must address all other societal ills first): other countries educate much poorer kids much more effectively than we do. and the solution is in public education, not private.
