One of the most frustrating aspects of this whole AI bubble has been that people really, really don’t like being made to feel stupid and they really like feeling smug and correct. So even when they do realize they’ve been had, there’s a massive mental resistance to getting mad at the grifters

Of course, OP, instead of being angry that the entire business world has decided to be complicit in running a massive grift on consumers by calling everything that crunches a number “AI” now, is instead angry at the commentators who’ve pointed this out for making him feel stupid

What is going on with this quantum hype cycle. Like it’s literally built on nothing, right? There have been zero new ideas? Random people keep asking me about it when they find out my job

This is the way fast readers read when they’re not close reading, which is looking at every word in turn, I’m the same. I don’t think it has anything to do with balanced literacy and is more about skimming tactics

My parents also had loads of phonics supplements at home. Once I could read I was off to the races and read nonstop, but I really do wonder if I struggled at first because of that method

I looked up my school’s curriculum and it turns out I was taught the controversial balanced literacy method! And I was a late bloomer for reading, I didn’t figure it out until after first grade when my dad took the time to sit down and read Harry Potter with me
