We do not think ourselves into new ways of living, we live ourselves into new ways of thinking
~ Richard Rohr

Famine is always political.
Everyone seems to have left this morning. I got up at 4:30 am to see the boats off but it was raining hard so I went back to bed.

So it begins…

I miss the halitwitter cookie swaps. Great times.

I went to a mask workshop today and made my first decorated mask using decoupage.

I had been feeling that might be a way for me to be expressive and I really loved it. Definitely doing more of #ThisKindOfThing

I’m at a fancy schmancy awards ceremony for one of my clients, and the venue is a really lovely blend of a traditional space with modern lighting and video. The ceiling is lovely!

I keep thinking about this image and getting Enron flashbacks.

Questions I ponder of a morning.

Why is he always glistening?

Normally you look at ppl’s hands to see how much work they’ve done to their face but here, the skin on his hands is softer than on his face and neck.

Fall family photo. Once yearly activity because we all hate it.

Grateful for the company of these two assholes; up Boars Head Road today, and everywhere else always.

Excited to be starting this tonight. #Halisky

I just found out about Highway #207 closing for the next ten days so I’m sharing this.

#207 is the road to Lawrencetown beach.

Lyla Drive is just before the Mineville Rd as you’re travelling east.

So use the #107 and take exit 18/19 if you want to surf.

I’m super excited about my potatoes this year though. This is from just two stalks.

I’m fairly pleased with these onions considering the drought.

Well at least the platform won’t now be controlled by the preferred RW technology partners of an authoritarian state using a lot of surveillance tech ….

Something a bit more aligned with my ways of being.

Something hopeful.

So during September I’m going to read -

Before War: On Marriage, Hierarchy, and our Matriarchal Origins.

By Elisha Daeva.

I’ll post some thoughts in this thread.

Sunset at Flour Cove, Long Island, Nova Scotia.

This is with a camera and not the naked eye, from the porch; it might be worth a wander up to the wharf.

Long Island, Bay of Fundy.

Moon over Tina’s house (next door).

Apparently we may see the Aurora in the wee hours.

Yesterday, Arthur Beagle and I had a glorious day beagling along the shore near Flour Cove. I found a spot bursting with rose hips and now I have 1.5 litres worth of that day’s ease and light and warmth saved for a cold dark winter’s day.

I see Ambassador Mandelson is still working for his old boss.

I have collected a LOT of apple samples around Tiverton NS.

Many trees are orphans, so the apples look different but they’re actually just not very well cared for, so the fruit grow a bit out of character.

I think I’ve narrowed it down to 5 types. Maybe 4.

One of the samples is in the pie.

Boat wake, Bay of Fundy, August evening.

Pleasant hill cemetery, Tiverton. The Loyalist burial ground.

A very pleasant spot to wait for your eternal reward. Great view into the bay.

Also the only place I’m allowed hike to.

Robert and Sarah Outhouse lie here, they founded the village in 1785.

I wonder what they’d make of the US now?

Do we know why wild carrot is thriving in this Nova Scotia drought?

My plan (since January) has been to sit exactly here for the next three weeks and savour my unread book pile.

Nap.

Maybe do some renos/ painting.

Thin out the pond rushes.

Reality…

The well is almost empty…. Our willow trees are all shrivelled up.

The pond is empty.

Rushes it is, I guess.

Arthur says good morning! He’s an older boy, and still the absolute bestest in this house.

Artie and I are starting our days on the beach now that the woods are out of bounds. Not terrible
