It doesn't even have to be Musk's dumb plans; it can be some sort of late-century scenario where it's comparatively cheap to do so in a way that doesn't make for hell for the researchers there.

God the replies are overkill. Sure, Musk's plans for Mars exploration in the near future are premature and absurd, but why is everyone so upset by the mere prospect of exploring the planet?
