Vaya panorama…

We refer to them as “Windmill droplets” in connection with the concept of “Windmill effect” proposed by @giovannivolpe.bsky.social and colleagues. To the best of our knowledge this is the first example of this kind of rotation in a soft, liquid,💧system, and could find applications in optofluidics

Windmill droplets: optically induced rotation of biphasic oil-in-water droplets
In the field of microdroplet manipulation, optical tweezers have been used to form and grow droplets, to transport them, or to measure forces between droplet pairs. However, the exploration of out-of-...

How can scientists compete with pseudoscience in algorithmic ecosystems?

This comes after several discussions with colleagues and friends, such as @ricardsole.bsky.social

I have just dropped this post on Linkedin (see the attached image, in case): www.linkedin.com/feed/update/...

También ocurre al iluminar con luz, ultravioleta (365nm).

A little fun with numbers on this Sunday, showing just how successful DNA really is. First, here's what DNA looks like. I'll draw your attention to the "rise" in DNA, that is, the distance between two basepairs, which is 3.4 Angstroms, also known as 3.4x10^-10 meters...
