I've no plans to visit the US any time soon but I've already talked about this with some friends and if we do have to go there, we will be buying a new phone first.

On the other hand neighbourhoods where every house is the same aren't great for diversity and helping down and up sizing without moving.
Pre approved designs to allow self builds are grand. But it should be a wide selection and planned estates built more varied than today.

I do wonder though whether it might encourage the less overtly authoritarian folks amongst them that fixing elections is the way.

Missed that but sounds great. Way too many keen to blame computer games themselves rather than why thats all kids do!

.... The temperature started going down?
Does he mean.... It's winter?

What's with the vintage 90s looking monitor and "software box"?
December 9, 2025 at 2:20 PM
Aye, it's not the first time we've had "AI" though.
Nobody ever got into "Wow Halo has such good AI. Take it out the game and it can run the business!"
December 9, 2025 at 2:19 PM
I really wonder how long it'll be before we finally stop calling LLMs AI.
It's mad they've managed to make the two so inseperable.

Apprenticeships are quite hard to get I hear. I frequently hear of people locally looking for them and unable to get one.
A problem is you need an experience worker for every apprentice....and experienced tradesman numbers are plummeting fast- we just didn't train many in the 80s.

Not what I'd have picked but not getting the angry opposition that seems the norm.
I hope they keep this for cross country services and have local trains in more local branding. Trains in the north being coloured to pair with the T&W metro for instance

Makes sense. I was thinking looks a bit weird for the not angled carriages to have the same wooshy angles.
December 9, 2025 at 8:51 AM
Would be nice more generally to see local trains in local colours with GBR kept for cross country services.
Can we be having local trains in the north standardised with the metro please?

Never got how people don't understand this. I tried living with my parents and driving to uni one semester.... Goodbye social life. And not being able to drink more than a pint when I did go out? When I was 19? Insane

I'd guesssss journalists. The media always jumps to "88luvva99 says he thinks it is disgusting that the prime minister shook hands with the gutter filth with the degernate skull shape". Never seen them pick up on blue sky posts other than to make shit up in general.

Must say the name is growing on me though. Makes GREAT British Railways. Handy reboot name. Though I'd have preferred Super or Ultra BR.

Housing Associations are great though?
With governments losing interested in social housing they're still keeping the light on.

One Reform officer looks to the other "... Are we the goodies?"
December 9, 2025 at 12:03 AM
Probably suspected to be so at least. The famous story of George Stephenson being asked to address a parliamentary commission and them not understanding him and thinking he was German.....
