Often no issue with coffee before sleep if it is a ristretto or espresso. Avoid large amount of water (drip coffee, Americano) that dilute caffeine concentration yet increase the intake.

I would replace “soft” by complacent. The epitome of that is its President who thinks he is just soooo gooood at everything. Self-satisfaction rather than self-acceptance hinders chances of progress

Trump like every western leader before him thinking he can convince Putin, negotiate, be smarter than the previous ones.

Previous one to be delusioned about such abilities was Macron. His unbounded self confidence in his superior intelligence blinded him for a loooong time.

Donc Trump aurait lu Foucault ? Il va pouvoir inviter Thiel à la WH pour discuter la French Connection quoi.

While it is true Macron’s running after the AI hype, you were a bit harsh with France in your newsletter : unlike the UK there is an AI scene and ecosystem in Paris at least.

for too long, I had assumed bike was a summer activity, then I moved to Denmark and Sweden. Here it is by -20 degrees. Right clothes, spikes on the tyres and off you go.

Read a study a very long while ago calculating the avg. effective speed of a car once you consider time working to pay it, insurance, maintenance, parking, etc, etc.
It was 13km/h.

Nice way to recalibrate speed.

Would be interesting at metabolic fitness of mountain guides : when you accumulate over decades of +100 days of guiding clients at 6-18 hour per day in altitude, with a mix of cardio vascular and strength aspects, must be ticking a lot of boxes.

Most important : a bike to commute to work and deal with daily activities. Here is how I do my Xmas shopping (beyond Xmas tree, boxes of wines and cheese suitable too) :

How much do you dial up vs. rest of the year, when you have a regular load ?

Have trained following your principles > 1 year: Each of long sessions(z1) = race distance; intense short strides; Weekly volume near x2 that of races.
Had cramp issues in races despite feeling "easy" (at threshold). Could my muscles be underprepared for the lasting stress of increased pace?
