BREAKING: Republicans just blocked my amendment to ensure Veterans, foster kids and the homeless aren’t denied SNAP benefits.

There is no one Republicans won’t betray to ram through tax cuts for their billionaire buddies.

The BC Wildfire Research group did tests to develop a "clean air shelter" for firefighters. One test used a 14'X24' Ranger tent. They attached a MERV 13 CR box onto the tent - facing in. The positive pressure from the fan and the CR Box filters reduced PM 2.5 by 91%! Ingenuity triumphs again!

If you are in a doom spiral, I understand: things suck. AND "it's already too late" = "no point in trying" messaging, repeated often & with conviction will sink in, and sink us.

It is NOT too late, you CAN make a difference, and that means we all have a responsibility to act where we are able.
It’s always fascinating to see the white cis men reply to my post saying “Hope is not lost” with things like “No, hope is lost.”

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

How about ONE SIMPLE MESSAGE to America?

"TAX MONEY 𝙁𝙊𝙍 TAXPAYERS!"

Democrats use tax money to BENEFIT PEOPLE!
And make their lives better.

Republicans misuse tax money to BENEFIT CORPORATIONS & BILLIONAIRES!
And COST working people more.

I wish we could cultivate a culture where people get excited about and share the new skills they've learned more than the new stuff they've bought.

My deepest take, a rather new one, is that the specialization of modern society both creates and requires ignorance of... a lot.

It is impossible to know all the things, which means there's value in individuals knowing a lot about some things, and those individuals exploit knowledge gaps.

It’s unethical to rob students of the opportunity to think for themselves and craft their own voice.

And yes, teachers are skilled, but with so many students from historically marginalized backgrounds falling through the cracks of our systems, maybe we focus our attention there.

I ask doctors to realize that you often see us at our absolute best. We rest up for days (if not weeks) before an appointment. We arrange help before & after to save spoons. We put on a brave face & try and appear presentable.

You don’t see us at our worst. /7

Your regular reminder that a subgroup of long COVID and ME patients do not respond to exercise with muscle hypertrophy.

Instead, they get muscle necrosis.

This means exercise can make them worse.
