i was not standing behind the tree, my feet got soaked. i was not wearing sandals. he was barefoot. but there we stood, two strangers enjoying the sunrise together

i just got back from a trip to hawai’i and on my last morning, i wanted to take a nice sunrise stroll along the beach. i wanted to just go until it was time to turn back. as i left the hotel behind me, the beach become quiet. empty. i came up on a huge washed up tree that a man was standing by
