the nanny stateism in the UK has gone mad. 2 million opposed it in a petition and the government just said: no. This country is a joke.

Sir Ed Davey – and even Kemi Badenoch – are now calling out post-Brexit challenges. It is time for Keir Starmer to do the same.

If not, Britain’s growth, productivity & living standards will continue to be weighed down by the structural handicap of Brexit

So much for the land of the free
Still a wild thing for a foreign country to say.

Instead of focusing on catching criminals and removing threats what do the metropolitan police do? They spy on fucking children instead. First the DfE kept tabs on the social media profiles of teachers, now the met are spying on children, what's next? We've got to get it's shit together.#UKPolitics

The UK Parliament has passed the Online Safety Bill. This bill undermines the independence of OFCOM significantly and gives the secretary of state the power to to designate and suppress or record a wide range of speech and media deemed "harmful"

This country is fucked.

Imagine living in a world where the government doesn't trust you enough to allow you to have a free and unmonitored opinion.

Such is life for a teacher in England.

I don't get why the Tories are so obsessed with survailing the population

It is absolutely shocking that the UK Government are going to use the law in order to prevent the workers from striking as opposed to actually listening to their demands, minimum service levels are just a way to force strikebreaking.

Workers on the Millennium Bridge in London have invoked a bylaw that requires a bail of hay to be danged off of the bridge to alert ships that the headroom under the bridge has been lowered (Port of London Authority Bylaws 2012 section 5 subsection 36.2)

The amount of administrative burden in Americans daily lives, as compared to other wealthy countries, is a form of American exceptionalism that we don’t talk about enough.
My biggest frustration with being back in the US is literally everything takes extra steps. Even when we’re on the brink of getting something every other wealthy country already has you need to live in the right state and have a fucking invite code.
The much-anticipated free tax filing software created by the government will only be open to users in 13 states to start, and won’t cover everyone’s tax situations.

If you want to be one of the first to try it out, you’ll need a special invitation.

So weird how as soon as the pandemic started it became very immediately clear that things like socialized medicine and giving people money so children don’t starve actually work really well but now that it’s been a couple years we have to all pretend we didn’t notice that

hot take but the problem with gettier cases is, the initial proposition is based on an unjustified false belief, which if you think about it doesn't really disprove justified true belief as knowledge, since it doesn't deal with the subject having a supposedly justified true belief.
