The notion that someone who is in their 20's can't have experienced climate change (supposedly due to an IPCC definition) is utter crap. It's embarrassing for a supposedly serious academic to be so disingenuous.

ERA5 covers the period from 1940 to 2024.

The turnout in small towns across the country has been incredible drawing crowds of thousands. We’re already seeing over one million in attendance nationwide, and events are still underway. Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Ohio all had especially surprising showings.

This picture may haunt me to the end of my days.

It is an ICE agent taking an axe to the car window of an immigrant in New Bedford, MA. Not far from where I sit now. An immigrant with no criminal record was abducted by this smiling man.

An axe taken to a car window and to our democracy. 1/

In the MAGA imagination, America is simultaneously threatened by outsiders – immigrants, invaders who are “poisoning the blood” of the nation, as Trump has put it – and by the “enemy within.” The core promise of Trumpism is to purge those inherently connected “threats.”

Utterly terrifying.
Before press came in — but while live feed was running on Bukele’s feed — Trump said to him: “home-growns are next. … You’re gonna need to build about 5 more places.”

This is a big deal, mainly because it is a very thorough piece of work, but also because the sensitivity of ice sheet models are still highly dependent on important details of the topography and conditions at the bottom of the ice sheet that remain highly uncertain.

This is key: Focusing on Trump's "contradictions" tends to perpetuate the idea that he doesn't have any actual convictions. It's true he doesn't care about specific policy positions.

But underneath that "flexibility" lies a very consistent worldview of grievance, domination, and hierarchies.
I think this piece makes too much of Trump’s supposed “contradictions.” For example, it is not a contradiction but the very essence of his politics that “law and order” applies to his opponents but not to him or his supporters.
