Short notes/thread regarding “dialectical materialism”.

It will be best to clarify what dialectical materialism is first. Touted as being the methodology which “flipped Hegel on his head”, it is a mode of analysis which explains human development through the contradictions of 'material conditions'.
"Dialectical materialism" is utterly incoherent as a philosophy. Materialism is a philosophy of unfreedom. A necessary moment of externality. In fact, most Marxists, let alone physicalists, cannot tell you what "material" actually is. Why? Because materiality as such is abstract.

✨NEW CHINA REPORT JUST DROPPED✨

The Dalai Lama turned 90 last week, raising questions around the role of China in naming his successor and Tibetan independence. But what is the real history of Tibet and the Dalai Lama, beyond U.S. headlines? Prof. Ken Hammond joins me this week to discuss.

This month, a team endorsed by Guillermo del Toro released Mexico's first stop-motion feature. It's 2 hours of pure imagination.

The film is called I Am Frankelda, and we've taken a deep look into how it came to be: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/the-film-a...

Believe it or not, all three of these fish are the same species… the bluehead wrasse. Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they transition from female to male over the course of their lives. Each phase can look radically different from each other as evidenced here #coralcitycamera

Hegel means something very specific by history, and he's generally right. Although there are very grave empirical mistakes, he actually considers tribes like Ashanti and Dahomey, unlike others. Most importantly, he never ties moral worth or potential to biological characteristics. My thoughts:

Sleep Token would be so good if they were another genre altogether. They could pull off folk or acoustic stuff imo.

The way this show ended was INSANE for a kids show. If I recall, the company the dad works for destroys all life on the planet and an ice age ensues. The final shot is of the family as the house slowly gets buried in snow, fully aware that they won't survive.
34 years ago today, 'Dinosaurs' premiered on ABC. (April 26, 1991) 🦖🦕

Created by Michael Jacobs and Bob Young.

Voice cast: Stuart Pankin, Jessica Walter, Jason Willinger Sally Struthers, Kevin Clash, Florence Stanley, Sam McMurray, & Sherman Hensley.

This is a very important point! However, it should be noted that Hegel's philosophy can just as well be called a process philosophy in the vein of ANW, insofar as he provides a development of the necessity of how the ideal and 'material' are structured. The ideal concretizes itself. Eg; 1/2
One thing with where you lie on the macrohistorical/microhistorical seesaw - whether history is driven more by structured tendencies with predictable relationships and outcomes, or by contingent stochastic events - is that it ultimately touches on all kinds of philosophy, such as ontology.

What lies beneath the alpine lakes of #Alaska?
Crystal-clear waters and surreal colors create an otherworldly scene. These lakes stay clean and untouched thanks to the cold temperatures and little human activity.

Here's a quick T. rex stop motion test I did yesterday, with a puppet I've made. I wanted to animate more, but I bumped into the camera 🙄

The puppet is made of wire and foam for the body. The head is made of a 3D print skull by Vitamin Imagination, and the "skin" is just unbaked sculpey

In light of Easter, this is a beautiful passage that highlights the necessity of inner vision and heart forces via initiation (Sophia, divine feminine, whatever you want to call it) as opposed to outer authority and the tyranny of immediacy with respect to Christ. Excellent post and painting!
Thanks to my friend Harriet for pointing out that the women went to Christ's tomb and saw he was not there, the angels showed up to describe what happened, & the women then told the apostles, who dismissed them. A Biblical account of women not being believed.

One of the bigger 🤯 in my philosophical journey was the realization that ethics and ontology are one and the same. In order to figure out the *ought* of how to act, one must first understand the *what*. The ought follows from the is. What humans are IS how we act!!
