Almost without my knowing, this became the most personal thing I have ever written. I guess, these films just do that to you.

There will be countless tributes, and rightly so. But Hackman was about the work. So today, simply put on The French Connection, or The Conversation, or Unforgiven, or Superman, or The Royal Tenenbaums et al. Remind yourself what screen presence truly means.

Superb work by @iannathan.bsky.social one of the more accessible reads about the much missed David Lynch and his films and lovingly put together.

Get back to work.
I am excited to get stuck in to editing The Thing Expanded this year with the team at CreatorVC. It's good to be back.

@iannathan.bsky.social and I are currently looking through the interviews and it's going to be a good one!

You know what would **really** disrupt the publishing industry?
Fair contracts and decent pay for authors.
No AI training without the creator’s consent.
Artists and translators on the cover.
No NDAs for ghostwriters.

What a pleasure, to wax lyrical about arguably Malick's most complete film and the lager context of the MCU (Malick's Cinematic Universe). BTW: John's new book is a marvel.

Gourmet expensive stuff, but at a price Bonnie would buy.

To me, the Indy films never fit the bill of blockbuster. They are too knowingly a pastiche, too gloriously enriched by tradition, and (in terms of the original trilogy), a love song to physical stunts. #Spielberg

I like many things about The Fabelmans, but it felt needless. Spielberg had poeticised his suburban childhood to immortal effect in E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. Don't wish away the potency of the fairy tale. #Spielberg

The start of something big. Spielberg's second and third feature films set the manifesto for the greatest career in postwar cinema. Genre infused with a sense of luminous mystery. #spielberg

It’s on mornings like these, after a couple of cups of coffee, that I wonder whether Marty McFly was modelled on Marty Scorsese. They are both fixated with the past.

Then I move on.
