This is another reason why academic unions are so important! With over 120,000 unionized academic workers, they've been helping to lead the charge on pushing back against attacks on science. A great way to help is supporting unionization efforts at your university.

It's run by a passionate NIH trainee who came from a rural community where students didn't have access to a lot of resources and rarely considered going to college. I hope you'll consider sharing and supporting this great program.

The program has been running since 2020 and has already matched >390 mentees with an extensive “mentor alumni” network comprised of many past and present NIH postbaccs, grad students, clinical fellows, postdocs, etc.

The kids are from 3 school districts (they partner with technical academies) and the program is a weekly afterschool club-like commitment.

The program consists of comprehensive 6-month virtual mentorship that’s rounded out with professional development workshops (topics include identifying colleges, college essay help, wellness, etc) and career seminar (traditional and non-traditional careers).

Unsurprisingly, he's lying again. We made it very clear what the walkout was about. This just further reinforces how unfit he is to lead the NIH.

I submitted a fellowship in June that's set to be reviewed in November. The timely review of my fellowship will determine my next career steps as an early career researcher. Unfortunately, timing matters and so do these disruptions.
