The USDA recommends an internal temperature of 165°F for poultry, but it doesn't need to stay at that temperature for long.

Yesterday, hundreds of scientists, physicians, health workers, patients, leaders, and advocates spoke together with one voice, RFK Jr. is not fit to lead HHS and has got to go. Thanks to @apha.org @standupforscience.bsky.social, and others for organizing.

Bobby brainworm has got to go! Great to see you yesterday, @drericding.bsky.social!

Some of my favorite science-themed 🧪 signs at yesterday's #NIHVigils #NoKings event! The creativity was incredible! Thanks to everyone who came out. The NIH Vigils happen every Saturday at 10 am at the NIH Visitor Center @nihvigils.bsky.social

The NIH community says yes to science, yes to democracy, and no to kings! Thank you to everyone who joined us today at the #nihvigils #nokings event! Join us every weekend on Saturdays at 10 am at the NIH Visitor Center.

I was happy to stand in solidarity with the FEMA signers of the Katrina Declaration today! They have two asks for the public, tell your representatives to support the FEMA act and the Protect America's Workforce act.

Yesterday, I was devastated to learn that many of my CDC colleagues were told they would be illegally fired as part of this administrations continued attacks on science and public health. To our CDC colleagues, we see you and stand with you.

Using my time on furlough to go to this to great #scienceundersiege book event with @michaelemann.bsky.social and @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social! We are facing a Tolkien-esque attack on science, but there are great things in this world, and they are worth fighting for.

Update 2: Calling your reps matters. CVS has now changed their website to only ask if you are eligible, which in MD you are if you are over 3 years old. You no longer have to attest to having an underlying medical condition. It's not perfect, but it's a huge improvement.

In Maryland, you do not need a prescription to get the COVID vaccine, regardless of what the box says. I showed this to the pharmacist and was still denied.
September 8, 2025 at 1:54 AM
Reported. But all CVS pharmacies won't allow you to make an appointment online. I thought it was a glitch because my primary said I could go get it yesterday. I went in person because they accept walk-ins, and I was denied.

Today, I tried to get my COVID vaccine and was denied. Even after showing the pharmacist @govwesmoore.bsky.social 's statement that Maryland law says all Marylanders should have access to the COVID vaccine, I was still denied. They said they had to follow the box. This is RFK's fault. RFK must go.

For those following the NIH budget fight, the next big development will be this Tuesday, Sept 2nd, with the House LHHS subcommittee markups. The bill text will likely come out late Monday. The House bill is likely to be closer to the president's budget request than the Senate's was, so be prepared.

CDC leaders resign en masse, decrying RFKs attacks on public health. This is what true leadership looks like. Thank you, #CDC leaders. You deserve all the applause 👏. Blurry Image from the AP livestream. #USAnotRFK

FEMA signers were put on administrative leave for speaking out to keep Americans safe. Congress enshrined protections for Federal employees and those protections need to be enforced.

I picked up a bunch of hand written letters from people across the country with kind words for the Bethesda Declaration signers yesterday. Best birthday present ever! Thank you to everyone who sent us these letters. They are amazing and mean so much to us!

Getting supportive honks from cars at the @nihvigils.bsky.social chases away my dread, @27unihted.bsky.social. Thanks for the great idea!
August 4, 2025 at 10:40 AM
For almost four months, we've been holding NIH vigils every Saturday at 10 am to come together as a community, support each other, and talk about what's been happening at the NIH. We will keep going as long as the NIH is under attack. Come join us to support NIH workers! @nihvigils.bsky.social
