The Merriweather guy. Also, bikes.
As was the case 170 years ago, the Yankees completely dominate the south.

If you haven't seen him live, go. His American Utopia tour was unlike anything I'd ever seen on stage and I still get chills thinking about it. (I was not a huge TH/David Byrne fan before the show but now I think he's one of the greatest musicians/performers/artists ever)

I was thinking about that this morning--specifically, about how I felt leaving Obama's inauguration in 2008, which was kind of deflating. I know the message was unity and working together, but invoking "put aside childish things" just felt like he was dismissing the hopeful energy his campaign built

The best thing I ever did was to let go of my pretentiousness about the music I like and how I consume it. Music is fun and people like it in different ways for different reasons that have zero impact on my enjoyment of it.

I can't speak to this particular product, but my usual dessert is Oreos with a generous spoonful of crunchy peanut butter on top.

meh... the tigers aren't exactly a franchise worth celebrating at the moment either

He couldn't hack it at Spalding, I guess.

We are in deeply abnormal times, and even if individuals aren't exhibiting pandemic-related mental/emotional responses, the pandemic clearly had a collective impact on society. The same is also true of 9/11, the other example in the episode. I mean, we took our shoes off at airports for 20 years 🤷‍♂️
August 28, 2025 at 1:24 PM
Interesting episode but I can't let got of what seemed like a throwaway mention of the pandemic's lack of a meaningful impact on mental health. This doesn't square with what I've read or what I've experienced personally (parent of teens, friend of teachers). Or the state of our society now.

What's at the bottom of a lot of these comments is a bunch of grown ups are rationalizing their addictions to screens.
August 25, 2025 at 4:20 PM
And it's been this way forever! History doesn't repeat itself by the cycle of shitting on liberals certainly does.
August 21, 2025 at 7:17 PM
But also there are crappy people all throughout the music industry and they prey on artists and fans alike, and yes, it sucks.
August 8, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Many of the artists/bands I’ve worked with have very detailed and prescriptive provisions in their contracts for how their names, images, and likenesses can be used both pre and post-show—particularly those with bigger agencies. Would love to see protections like this for consumers.

Yes, it’s a fine song. Good bones. There are entire catalogues of songs by Ted Nugent and Kid Rock. What are we even doing?
August 8, 2025 at 4:15 PM
Is “Worst song debate” code for ramblings of people whose brains are addled by social media?

I guess I’m one since I posted but god I hate it here

It is stupidly complicated. You can changes the settings on “screen time” but it’s a lot of menus, clicks, and swipes and the settings will apply across all devices connected to your Apple account. Seems like a “kid mode” toggle is long overdue.

It's OK to make fans happy, sometimes. It's also OK to pay a player what they are worth in the market, whether the spreadsheet tells you to do that or not.

Maybe I'm just a bitter fan, but this organization is adrift and hasn't shown indications for why we should trust their plans for the future.
August 7, 2025 at 7:31 PM
Oh, hey, just saw this. Better to be lucky than good, I guess.

The point is that we want to see the Orioles (that is, the major league club) succeed. Baker's decline notwithstanding, the MLB team needs MLB players, and players in the minors are not that.
August 7, 2025 at 3:35 PM
I've heard all the complaints about his decline and how he'll be "overpriced" this offseason but that's the market. If the O's want to be a competitive team, they have to rise to the level of their competition on and off the field.
August 7, 2025 at 3:33 PM
If they're reluctant to do 10+ year deals, they could've just kept Mullins and given him a three-to-five year deal in the offseason. That would've kept him on the team until the end of his career and signaled to young players and fans that they're willing to make real commitments.

Got into with this one yesterday

Also, all of the Orioles subreddit

They ignore the reality: Elias returned this team to competitiveness and built it to be in the conversation for years. No, he doesn't hit on every trade or FA signing, but which GM does? He's outclassing the majority of his counterparts and we will have many seasons of good baseball thanks to him.
