We’re fucked.
With these declining percentages of people believing in climate change there’s no way things will turn around. People just don’t understand the basic science. And we grey beards can already compare the difference from our youth so we’re in despair 😩
Guardian Essential poll: only a quarter of older Australians believe climate change can be prevented
Results show a ‘general sense of gloom’ as fewer Australians now believe climate change is caused by humans compared with March

Thanks to @documental.ly substack (which I’ve been a paid reader for years) I’ve just read this sobering account about Superintelligent AI.

I haven’t felt this way since walking out of the cinema after seeing “The Day After” in 1983. I’m just much older and have less life to miss out on this time.

When you spend years striving for a goal, it’s an odd feeling to finally arrive. Six years and I’m now retired in my new home.

Thirty years ago we paid off the house and we’re mortgage free. A month later we broke up. I’ve been paying rent and mortgage ever since… Until today. Accommodation is now fully paid for. What a relief.

On Monday, does Peter Dutton have to go to his parliamentary office to clean it out or do they just send him the boxes? I suppose he could just ask John Howard.

47% less dangerous to cycle than to drive. Meaning it's twice as dangerous to drive than to cycle, considering all aspects of the impacts of cycling and driving on lifestyle and health outcomes. Add a good diet, other exercise, community etc and the outcomes are amazing.
