…distribute storage to smooth the demand curve using our regional resources. Nuclear (fision) is a conversation in itself, but yes, its still has immense value in its ability to satisfy baseload and by largely unaffected by weather. We can but hope that new initiatives to streamline and rethink the…

..bottleneck its made out to be. We need to build our generation at regional scale and adapt the technologies to each region. Long haul export of power adds resilience which is valuable, but we should aim for regional self-sufficiency under nominal conditions which implies we need to also boost and

…unpalatable. Solar is still very much in a phase of plummeting CapEx per installed Wh and also has this unique suitability to be deployed both at utility and personal scale which makes it very attractive in many markets including non grid tied. I think the grid itself is increasingly not the …

I think ultimately electricity can be kept affordable and abundant despite a switch from fossil fuels because its very plausible for it to be produced by ~100% renewables. I think you are right that hydro is tapped out, further hydro development would have an escalating ecological impact thats…

Lets hope “flipping the script” isn’t too literal and doesn’t involve destroying a random selection of apartment buildings full of non combatants

@meredithmeredith.bsky.social I’ve never looked into the revenue/funding basis (that keeps signal running so well!). Is there a summary you could share?

Seriously!! Had occasion to look at Xilinxs hard IP in detail recently and…WTF!

Tagential perhaps to your zoning point here, but it boggles my mind for retail that anyone is building this type of commercial without several stories of residential on top at this point. Industrial I get, it doesn’t mix, but the strip mall is dead.

Seriously, im hearing it from Europeans across the board currently. Plus $100 per person is is a hell of a hike. Im more used to this magnitude of 2 tier differential in 3rd world countries. p.s in Modena tonight!!

Thought of you today. Saw 2 Italian soldiers stationed to guard UK embassy in Rome today…complete with Landrover Defender….with plastic bucket under the sump so it doesn’t leave embarrassing stains. Buy British! 🇬🇧

You should try to understand the units in play here on that daily consumption record. The values shown on the meter display are on the order of magnitude for your entire annual consumption. I think you are looking at 2 very different things.

You have the EULA to thank for that. "Customer may not [...] provide commercial hosting services with the SOFTWARE. [...] The SOFTWARE is not licensed for datacenter deployment, except that blockchain processing in a datacenter is permitted."

If only there was a mature globally deployed solution in many of the worlds laregest metro systems that used your smartphone…..surely silicon valley would use that…right? RIGHT? tfl.gov.uk/fares/ways-t...

If you’re writing the full stack….why do you need an operating system? Bare custom metal all the way!

I don’t think you are wrong, I think Bend likely does need a longer term social housing plan to address a certain part of our housing crisis, but its an “and” and not an “instead”. I also doubt we could land a large enough social housing scheme in the time frame we need it.

I don’t think its embarrassing at all, I think its business. The capital has been sunk into these projects, now its time to quickly ramp occupancy, and that means persuading people to up root from where they are at now to start filling them including overcoming the legacy perception of apartments.

Going to take friendly issue with "Your FPGA needs a PHY". If your FPGA has on board SERDES/Transceivers etc then odd's are it can communicate natively with 1000/10000/25000Base-X protocols, or indeed pretty much any ethernet device with on board MAC can talk direct to another MAC across a PCB.
