Giving my ‘nice young man’ routine a new spin.
Two things you should know about me:

1) book recommendations are my love language, especially at Christmas.

2) this is a book of fart jokes.

Took advantage of the almost-empty gym to go check out the resistance machines and get away from my crutch of the treadmill 😅 this new gym isn’t so scary and we are so back baby.

The best thing about a home treadmill is that no one has to see me exercise in public until I get back to pretty 😅

Got a bit sidetracked with gaming for a couple of weeks so it’s been a while since I’ve finished any reading. Made up for it by taking these beauts to #centerparcs and enjoying some poetry in the forest, cause y’know… cultured innit

Recently rescued my final box of books from the in-laws’ garage, where we stored our stuff before moving in.

Very excited to finish some of these partially-reads and re-read some of the other ones before I give them a new home at a charity shop somewhere #booksky

Two things I’ve decided today:

1) I don’t get solo coffee book time as much as I’d like anymore.

2) don’t always let #booksky reviews put you off reading or consuming something - not everything creative has to be ‘art’. ‘Entertaining’ is justifiable by itself!

Got my dates for a gig mixed up by about 3 weeks and with travel already paid for, tagged along with some friends to watch this amazing and UTTERLY DUMB show.

I may be becoming something of a Lauren Drew fanboy… loved it!

I’m sure when we studied this at school it was a lot longer! 😅

The benefit of this being a re-read and also understanding more about it being allegory now that I’m older (and wiser?) makes this even more horrifying to swallow. Inevitability is both terrifying and heartbreaking.

My best friend leant me this and I finished it in a day. Very cosy fantasy world - would be great to see this adapted for tv!

I think I picked this up about 10 years ago, but it’s finally been read.

Had a proper little strop today so if anyone needs me, I’ll be hiding in my book nook and reading about witches.

I won’t be the first to be uncomfortable with the way Fagin is referred to throughout, but for a 99p charity shop find this was a great winter read!

And would you believe I’d only ever seen the animated Disney adaptation before?!

After watching the film adaptation recently as part of my ‘films everyone picks on me for not seeing’ series, I had to read this, and I love how different the second half of this is.

Thoroughly enjoyed the reveal about Howl’s country of origin and family life.

Not really sure I fully ‘got’ this so I may need to revisit one day. Interesting concept and some proper sad moments though! 💙 📚 #booksky

First full read of the year was this eye-opening and (thank heavens) fun book by the incredible @sachacoward.bsky.social

(By the way, I’m ready for that queer video game book whenever you are!)

December was a cheap one - two birthday presents, two Christmas presents, one borrowed from my boss and one that’s been gathering dust for I don’t even know how long since I picked it up in a charity shop before we moved #booksky

I love that we still have our annual Christmas meal even though we’re well into our 30s by now.
