I wonder how many of us quietly deplore the massive use of fireworks, eg, on New Year’s Eve?

Not only terrifying pets - they cause huge disturbance to wild animals

This paper found 1000 times more birds in flight on NYE than on other nights

The Environmental Improvement Plan is out🎉

We took the Government to court over the last one. This time, warm words won’t cut it – nature needs delivery.

There are positive steps:
✅ Clearer delivery plans
✅ A new PFAS plan to tackle toxic “forever chemicals”
✅ Tougher action on waste crime
✅ A target to expand wildlife-rich habitats by 2030

This matters – because it gives the public tools to hold Government to account.

The Government have today announced an Access Green Paper which will consult on how to ‘strengthen the public’s legal right to access’.

This is welcome - but further delay isn't: Labour MPs & access NGOs are united on the need for access legislation now.

🔥🪵 Biomass isn’t as "renewable" as advertised, and it isn’t clean. Burning virgin wood (UK's #1 source) can be more polluting than coal.

We need to prioritise use of would-be-waste biomass for hard to decarbonise sectors and phase out forest biomass for power.
