Red Sox RHP Luis Perales struck out the side in his Triple-A debut, on 11 pitches, without throwing a single fastball. He got 2 strikeouts on sliders & 1 on a changeup. Overall, he threw 5 cutters, 3 sliders & 2 changeups. CT 90-92, SL 86-88 & CH 83-84. 5 whiffs: 3 CT, 1 CH, 1 SL

Dominant outing from Red Sox LHP Payton Tolle tonight: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K. 63p/45s. FB 95-98, CT 88-91, CH 88-90, SL 84-87, CB 83-84. 12 whiffs: 5 FB, 3 CT, 2 SL, 2 CH. Best I’ve seen his secondaries look this year. Had everything working. Showed why he’s in contention for an MLB call up.

Payton Tolle strikes out the side in the 3rd, after striking out the last 2 batters in the 2nd. He’s has 6 Ks total w/the only hit an infield 2B. FB up to 98.6 & showing best cutter I’ve seen from this year. Also missed bats w/his SL & CH. Here’s an 87 mph SL to end the 3rd.

Final line for Worcester RHP David Sandlin in his 2nd appearance in short relief: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. Dominant 6th, but gave up 3 straight hits to start 7th. Inconsistent command cost him, but saved by HR robbery. 5 whiffs: 3 FB, 1 CT, 1 SL

Strong rehab outing for Toronto RHP Shane Bieber in Worcester: 5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR. 78p/54s. FB 92-94, CT 87-89, SL 84-86, CB 82-84, CH 88-90. In control throughout & commanded entire arsenal. Slider was really good, 47% whiff rate (8 on 17 swings). 14 whiffs total

Inconsistent outing for Worcester RHP Richard Fitts: 4 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K , 1 HR. 86p/53s. FB 92-95 T96, CH 85-88, SL 86-87, SW 82-85, CB 79-81. 13 whiffs, but struggled to locate FB & gave up some loud contact. CH effective vs. LHH. Sweeper flashed, but lacked consistency.

Solid outing for Red Sox LHP Connelly Early tonight: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K. 79p/52s. 9 whiffs. CH best pitch. Limited hard contact other than HR on hanging CH. Velo ticked down as game went on, but secondaries got more effective.

Impressive start for Red Sox LHP Kyle Harrison: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K. 99p/61s. FB 92-96, CT 86-89, SW 79-83, CH 86-89. FB was really good. 29% whiff today which would rank 4th among MLB LHP (min 300 4s). Cutter & breaking ball also effective. Only one hard hit ball all game.

Red Sox IF Kristian Campbell extends his hitting streak to 10 games with a line drive single to left field. Nice job pulling his hands in, on a 96 mph fastball from Andrew Painter, to drive in the first Worcester run of the game.

Up-and-down outing for LHP Kyle Harrison in Worcester today: 4 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR. 79p/49s. FB 94-96, CT 88-90, SL 82-84, CH 85-87. Inconsistent FB command. New cutter flashed potential as a pitch to get ahead/generate weak contact. 10 whiffs: 4 CT, 3 SL, 2 FB, 1 CH.

Rehabbing Red Sox RHP Tanner Houck worked a scoreless first, but required 26 pitches & allowed 2 hits. Only 1 whiff on a sweeper. FB 94-96, split 88-90, SW 83-85. He also looks to be trying out a cutter at 90-91, which he hasn’t shown at the MLB level this year.

Inconsistent outing for Portland LHP Connelly Early today: 5 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. 79p/55s. FB 92-94, SL 83-86, CH 82-84, CB 78-82. 9 whiffs. Relied heavily on secondaries. Fastball usage was less than 20%. Struggled to miss bats. Lot of weak contact that was finding gaps.

Greenville OF Nelly Taylor just missed a home run in his first AB, flying out to the warning track just short of the 420’ sign in CF. He’s had a pair of multi-hit games this week & showed off an intriguing two-way profile with power, speed & standout defense in center field.
