No, it wont have that instinct. I think these extra generations - that we're seeing in solitary bees too - are 'testing the waters'. If they survive to breed, that trait would become more common in the population.

Probably a bit late for a 'true' greenbottle (Lucilia) but not impossible these days. The 'lookalikes' like Neomyia cornicina that belong to the muscid rather than the calliphorid (blowfly) family tend to fly later.

I'll photograph the relevant pages & post. There was a big gap between publication of the two volumes so they often turn up on their own, especially as the older one isnt actually titled 'vol.1', as if vol.2 was an afterthought.
