If you're into Sci-Fi, have you read Roadside Picnic? It might be my favorite Sci-Fi novel.

I just don’t see that ever happening. I imagine that if AGI or something close is attained, and a lot of people lose their jobs, there won’t be a safety net for them. Instead they’ll hear advice like “upskill” or “learn to code” as a suggested solution, which for many is no solution at all.

Same. The environmental impacts are foremost in my mind. But I also think about the unimaginable concentration of wealth and power the handful of AI companies are going to have if this pans out the way they want. The utopia of AI doing all the work while humans focus on human things…
