Interesting. Why do they *not* want to use AI? I had a student who expressed strong opinions in class about the environmental issues with using AI. It's hard for me to imagine "making" students use it, though I do allow for its use, but in limited ways that are too complicated to explain in a skeet.

There is a supplement PDF that explains some of the methodology - all of it stats mumbo-jumbo that is not my bailiwick. 😀It seems to be a solid finding of correlation. They may need to look at whether SM time is replacing study time; they mention that possibility at the end of the article.

Thank you! What a mess that was. I had high hopes for Bargatze, but he stumbled his way through the whole thing.

I agree. I see this happen too often with students who were successful in HS. He also seems to have been the oldest child, so maybe a lot of pressure on him to be a role model to the younger kids.

Yes, saw your further posts after I hit send. Overall, I just want to call out the tendency of people like DeBoer to always accuse anyone on the left of virtue-signaling instead of actually believing in what they do.

He’s poisoning the well, trying to make people (students? parents? people who might question whether higher education is a valuable pursuit?) believe that college is not worth it. (3/3)

It focuses on the professor as “performing” these ideas instead of really believing them. He’s accusing professors of virtue-signaling, and the response shouldn’t be denying that some people are trying to change how they teaching but instead rejecting the absolute cynicism on display here. (2/3)

Source: I am a professor. And I have to push back on this a little. DeBoer's piece is overly simplifying and mean-spirited, but there are professors who are somewhat like this. The problem with this piece is the same problem that characterizes a lot of attacks on anything remotely to the left. (1/3)

I really enjoyed it, and I am an old school "Christopher Reeve is the real Superman" girl.

Up (2009): A childless monster refuses to die and give his house to the heroes, the real estate developers. This criminal steals the house, kidnaps the valiant Boy Scout who was trying to stop him, and brings him to the socialist hellhole of Venezuela where they save some dogs and baby birds.

"the Rise of Skywalker"
You're not missing anything.

I'm pretty sure I haven't seen Revenge of the Sith either. I fell asleep during Phantom Menace and never bothered to watch the other 2, but later after watching some of the Clone Wars series, I decided to try Attack of the Clones. Meh.
