Going to build a new PC for the first time in 10 years! Saw the Fractal Terra Jade at Microcenter and knew I wanted something small right off the bat. Unfortunately I have to build the PC now because the tariffs are going to make electronics way more expensive...

My Molar Mac post seemed well liked so here's another machine. This is my 12" PowerBook G4, with a 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4 and 1.25 GB RAM. I've installed Sorbet Leopard onto it to get newer programs. Yes, the battery does work for an hour or two!

This is the Castlewood ORB drive. It's a hard drive platter based removable cartridge format for data storage and backup. It competed with the more popular SyQuest (literally the same technology) and Iomega Jaz format

if i had a nickel every time a bridge in Cincinnati caught fire in 4 years, I would have two nickels. That's not a lot of money, but it's weird it happened twice.

Another CRISI grant that dropped was planning for the Midwest Passenger Rail Commission! I am hoping that Ohio rejoins the MIPRC like the bill that was introduced a bit ago. We really need to get the ball rolling with Amtrak in Ohio while the grants are still hot.

CRISI grants dropped today. A lot of grants for shortlines and some oddball Amtrak stuff! In Cincinnati, there is a grant for capacity upgrades for Queensgate Yard and grade separation, a must for 3C+D rail to work reliably!

The heritage train's route is part of the longer former New York Central Whitewater Division, which ran between a junction near Cincinnati and New Castle IN, via Harrison OH, Brookville, Metamora, and Connersville Indiana. I've marked the abandoned section in blue on this map of the line.

It's a really lovely little town, and there are many like it in Indiana and Ohio. It's sad to see the lack of rural branchline service because it would be extremely helpful for rural residents as well as tourism.

Metamora is a cute little village famous for the former Whitewater Canal. It has many little antique shops and that kind of vibe. The train shuttles quite a lot of people and helps prevent Metamora from being swamped by car parking.

I took the Whitewater Valley Railroad heritage train between Connersville and Metamora Indiana! These trains are absolutely packed and they are quite good for Metamora's local tourism scene.
