I pray you each have a beautiful day, full of gratitude, full of sweetness and care. I pray you each feel the love that went into creating you... the love that is you. I pray that your harvest is plentiful!

As we celebrate family and our plentiful harvests, and as we give thanks for our many blessings today, let us remember what this day has been for our people, for our ancestors, for our guiding spirits. Let us remember to give thanks to the Earth for her grace and benevolence.

Many enslaved African-Indigenous ppl would use this day to rejoice for rain to move away drought so that they would reap a plentiful harvest.

Many of our ancestors would also participate in animal sacrifice and community feasting much like those of our people in the motherland.

“Thanksgiving” was, historically, a day for enslaved black folk to gather, rest, enjoy a break from the hardships of their duties, plan & carry out escapes & uprisings, conjure & participate in rituals, dance, sing & fellowship— often free from the surveillance of the whites

Happy Black Family Gathering Day! Happy Indigenous Remembrance Day!

Don’t forget to pour libations for the Indigenous people of this land, in addition to our benevolent ancestors.

We honor & remember them. We pray that their spirits be at peace. We pray for justice & recompense
