It’s been a wild ride, and it’s not over yet! I’m still editing ep 19 of season 5 and we gotta record the finale too! But things are kinda slowing down with work and I’ll have more time for that, as well as some additional bonus content between seasons 5 & 6! Here’s some we’ve already done!

Season 5 has 2 eps to go! The 1st half went flawlessly w/ great guests & chats. The 2nd half had still great guests, but you know that meme where the mascot sitting w/ business people & “accidentally became important at work”. That was me. It led to release delays more than I wanted… sorry y’all!

Season 4 felt like we were pros at this point. We tried doing some new things. Sneak peek clips every ep, “live read” ads, even made our first ad revenue! But this season’s lineup of guests was just a perfect mix of what we envisioned KOJ to be. Still can’t believe we got Konishiki & Jim Heisig!

Season 3 brought a lot of change. For the 1st 2 seasons, Nigel did the editing but due to work obligations had to step away. So I dove head first into YouTube & learned the basics of Reapr to keep things afloat. Yu Hayami, Gene Pelc, Jero, Eiji Uchida… Honestly, 3 might be my fave season overall.

In Season 2, we finally felt like we were hitting our stride, despite the Hurricane Ida delay. But we got to work with some soon-to-become-recurring guests like Chris from TDR Explorer & Rob from @therealjapan.bsky.social. But getting Dogen to join was very unexpected for us! His ep is Top 2 in DLs!

Season 1 was such a fun year because we really had no idea what we wanted to be. Was it going to be just 4 Japan Society members chatting or did we want to keep pursuing guests similar to how we did with our first episode with @mattalt.bsky.social? Thankfully, we leaned more into the latter!
