I also use the multiple desktop thing on OS — always forget what it's officially called — so I'm usually on a screen with just Pages open. That is, until I need to look something up on the internets and then lol welp

I use Pages to write — mostly because it can do track changes mark-up which I need for revisions and because I can close out all the menu/toolbars and it visually resembles a piece of paper.

I have a bunch of automated presets on my phone — and it like magically locks me out. It's so good.

I should probably put it on my computer too though lol

I use an app blocker on my phone and it is helping a lot. I also do use music like a brain cue. Like, okay brain, music starts, writing starts. But man, the internet is like, this seductive poison cookie. Come on, eat the cookie! You know you'll like it! Welp.

The work is what makes us human. That's it.

It's just a weird time to be a writer or anyone else creating things. There are so many forces that just feel like they're working against human creavitiy or at least, trying to devalue it. LIke, why wouldn't you just use an LLM, why do the actual work — and it's like, well, the work is the point.

Yah, Jack Johnson is like a nice, warm bubble and I get the appeal of that. He's also a gifted performer — like, his stage presence is your best friend, who brought his guitar to the beach hang to play some songs, and he can project that to a room full of people. That's a neat trick.

Oh yah — the film festival uses the Arlington. It's like, our biggest indoor venue, which is funny. This is a really small town!

I saw Jack Johnson play music, watched a couple of old surf films, and talked to my friends about a novel that's an extended argument for human creativity and against the machines. All that's in here lol

it's such a weird place!! i can't really imagine doing a wedding there at all, though i did go to a really beautiful wedding at the granada. santa barbara is like, the super wedding destination now, though, so we're using literally every venue. there's like 10 or more a day at the courthouse now lol

It is amazing! LIke, you just see people you know, and you can stop and have a chat so easy. And it's quiet! It's so great.

There are continual efforts to reopen our main street to cars, and it makes me so crazy. Cars don't spend money! People spend money! (breathes into paper bag)
