I can't ever recall a single line from Rilke's Requiem for a Friend without having to sit back and read the whole thing.
I can hardly think of any writing by Rilke that does not evoke intense love in me, or at least the remembrance of having loved it once, intensely.

Yet “Requiem for a Friend" is truly something else.
