First used during the First Crusade in 1096, "Deus vult" (Latin for "God wills it") has been co-opted by the far right in recent years, having been used by the 2017 Quebec mosque shooter and among the rioters at Charlottesville.

What the Associated Press actually reported is that a fellow service member flagged Hegsith as a possible "insider threat" due to his "Deus Vult" tattoo.
It isn't "anti-Christian bigotry" to report on the fact the tattoo raised red flags for his unit's security manager.
