My dad, who's the same age as Trump, also sometimes uses outdated place names (ie. still saying Czechoslovakia, despite the breakup happening 30 years ago).

There is one major difference between the two though...

Usually when you try to reproduce a historical model, you should see how the whole thing played out.

Also, and this may be a real hot take, the world of 2025 is significantly different than it was in 1890.
Newt Gingrich says the "McKinley Model" requires high tariffs over a three-year transition period.

Notable: Three years after the 1890 McKinley tariff, the economy had fallen into a severe depression. The GDP shrank by 10% and unemployment hit 18%. Certainly not the economic model I'd be copying. 😳
