Me and my wife had just found out we were expecting a baby.

I just had the urge to paint this. I didn’t even know at the time that we were expecting a baby girl.

Paintings are lovely to look back at.

We live in a beautiful part of the world, where brave people risked their lives everyday and went underground to support their families.

I had painted a picture which showed a miner’s helmet being used as a vase. But I felt that old working boots would be a striking image also.

To me, it shows how beautiful but dangerous nature can be.
