S&K Volume 5 is all about Trophy! The cover that @jesseross.com made for us is SICK. Everything is edited except one last incursion, layout is 78% done, and our copy editor @rebeccahall15.bsky.social is having an amazing honeymoon but will power through when she is back (she's great!)
I'm excited!

I don't wanna give away too much, but when thinking about your TTRPG characters remember that they carry all their history with them. All their decisions in the past, all their reactions to events, you can play around with that, and you don't have to make them heroes. They can be monsters. :D

All wrapped up in a stylish, quirky bow

It's a biting commentary on influencer culture mixed with the residual effects of childhood trauma.

Aisha Dee puts on an amazing performance as Sissy... I mean, Cecilia. Awkward and vulnerable, but deeply disturbed at the same time.
October 20, 2025 at 3:22 PM
One part slasher, one part revenge story, Sissy is blackly funny and really quite gorey. (It's very Australian horror!)
October 20, 2025 at 3:21 PM
but it isn't until too late that Cecilia finds out it's being hosted by her childhood bully, Alex.

Being stuck in a house with her childhood bully and a bunch of shitty people is just the start of the horror in this movie.

By chance she runs into her childhood bestie, Emma, at the pharmacy. Emma invites her to her bachelorette party for the weekend.

Cecilia is an influencer promoting self-acceptance and self-care. Like everyone, her life isn't exactly what it appears to be online.

Mine was King's Quest IV. You were a beautiful princess on a quest to save your father, and you have to go into a haunted house and deal with ghosts and dig up graves. I was like 5 years old when I played this and I LOVED IT. It was scary, but fun!

92) The Mist (2007)

So anyway, Dave Made a Maze is a light horror movie, but it's fun to watch, so that's my recommendation for this week. Stay tuned for my next recommendation, which is much more bloody but also kind of whimsical!
And don't forget to follow along with the rest of our #hauntalong!

Get yourself a group of people that will support you, rescue you when you are lost in your project, and help you clean the leftover cardboard up after. Creative friends understand how hard it can be to finish a project, and they can help you. Don't be afraid to reach out to them!

You wanna throw in a giant glowing vulva? Go for it!

This movie plays with perspective, and breaks the rules because it can. And so can you in your creative endeavours! You are beholden to nobody, and if people reject your premise that's their problem.
October 12, 2025 at 11:59 AM
The premise IS silly, and the movie acknowledges that. However, once they are inside the maze the rescuers buy into the premise, so we do too. The same works with any creative works! Otherwise it's premise rejection, and that's never any fun.
