I'm determined to make this account just for dumb jokes. I will engage with reality in the real world. This space is for bits.
Yeah, as a Cub fan that would normally enjoy a nice Wisconsin football season as a palate cleanse, the Packers are load-bearing for me now.

Sending strength and vibes ✊

Was watching the broadcast last night and heard the organist play Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" after the last out in the ninth. This is how I feel after Malört 🤝

You try because it's right. You try because there is dignity and integrity in the act of your labor.

I'm not a memorabilia person. But I do have a signed Ryno ball (thanks, Mom!). I'll be moving it to my desk.

Right now, a lot of us are being driven to not want to try; a kind of nihilism at the heart of—well...everything.

I'm grateful for a reminder that trying isn't important because there is an outcome to win or because you need to be productive in the eyes of capital. It's a moral choice...

I can't say that Ryne Sandberg alone is the reason I take effort and commitment very seriously in my work and in my personal life. But whether I realized it then or not, he was an example for me.

From Sandberg's HOF induction speech:
"The reason I am here, they tell me, is that I played the game a certain way, that I played the game the way it was supposed to be played. I don’t know about that, but I do know this: I had too much respect for the game to play it any other way.”

I wrote a college entrance essay about how being a Cub fan whose faith in the team wasn't about the expectation of World Series salvation, but just playing the game and trying and believing because that's all you can do. Losing isn't good, but there's value in it when you've tried your best.

"...More than a compiler of statistics and a turner of double plays, he made Cubs fans feel something. There’s no greater honor for a ballplayer than to inspire hope in others."

From Jon Greenberg's article in @theathletic.com:
"For all that was wrong with the Cubs over the years, Sandberg, like Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Fergie Jenkins before him, was all that was right..."

That crowd didn't have a lot to get excited about in 1992 (and they didn't know they would lose Greg Maddux to Atlanta at the end of the season).

Aron Eisenberg's acting in that episode was off the charts. He was so great 😢

I understand this but I'm not replying on the advice of my lawyer.

Yup. Wrote "War" the first day, took a day off, then wrapped it up with "Peace" on day 3.

I say this all as someone who LIKES Prodigy and has a good time with Star Wars.

But it's mostly kids stuff. And the best of DS9 made me think dark thoughts at night like Andor does.

Tho I think there is more overall artistic merit to Prodigy than the SW movies 😬😅

10 billion real life C3POs are really going to gut the pedantic nerd friend market. How am I going to "well actually" with all these shiny dorks around beating me to the punch
