Several people have asked, who are the best prose stylists among historians? Those who have been the most useful to me (in no particular order) have been Christopher Hill, C.L.R. James, E.P. Thompson, Natalie Zemon Davis, Eduardo Galeano, and (let me throw in an anthropologist) Clifford Geertz.

The concluding (new) essay in my forthcoming book - out from @haymarketbooks.org in late spring - is about Fanon, anticolonial struggle, climate justice, and the search for human solidarity. I argue that the climate struggle needs Fanon - the actual, complicated, contradictory Fanon.
Frantz Fanon died on December 6, 1961, at the age of 36.
