I'd suggest keeping Pasta simple. Maybe add an isTarget option that can override the target check? I haven't verified but think that would be enough.

One use case that cause me to write my own astar is to find path to the closest of multiple targets. The huristic is easy (min over all targets) but need to get astar to bail early when h === 0. Could also be a starlet callback.
