I made a feed called BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors support feed) that could help you find others with Trich & dermatillomania! It brought me to your post ☺️

Here’s a photo I found of three product - this is far too bulky for me, but the concept is 💯

Some people are living with heavily stigmatized disabilities such as Trichotillomania and Alopecia for example and drawing on eyebrows can be very empowering. Disabilities aside, it can also be an outlet for creative expression. Don't knock it till you try it ❣️

You could always try putting some dots of acrylic paint on some fabric to pick at instead, especially if it's a furry fabric. It's kind of like a scab - I'm trying to make a prototype bracelet for this but executive dysfunction is getting the better of me 😅

Do you something to redirect the picking energy? Glue on fabric works well for this. Alternatively if it's a pain-seeking stim you're looking for, those spikey rings seem to work well for a lot of people.

Hoping you find a better support system soon ❤️

Is there something else you could pick at to redirect that energy? You could let glue dry on something like fabric and picking at that instead

If you’re having a really hard time, you can always put tape over your nails while it’s healing. Medical tape stays on longer if you have some available

I started a business selling fidget bracelets that unintentionally became excellent redirect fidget for #bfrbs! Didn’t fully realize I had #Dermatillomania until I started looking into ADHD stimming behaviors while brainstorming new products. I figured everyone did it 😅

It’s the only way I can get a song that’s stuck in my head out - type all the lyrics 😅

I’ve never heard anyone else describe phantom typing 🥹 I did it more as a kid while I was learning to type but still find myself doing it every so often. Thank you for sharing 💕

I completely follow your thought process. Most people would probably just buy new ones but something gnaws at your brain to problem-solve am I right? 😅

I used to do that thing as a kid where I would intentionally put Elmer's Glue on my hand then peel it off after it'd dried.

From that experience I learned how to do freehand zombie makeup using liquid latex, so hey, life skills!

Some of the fidget bracelets i make are specifically for redirecting BFRBs. They won’t eliminates the behaviors but they can be tools for Habit Reversal Therapy. BFRBs are complicated and therapy is also an incredible resource. Hope you find the support you’re seeking regardless!
