By now, we've all seen the video of Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) being forcibly removed and handcuffed for asking a question during Kristi Noem's press conference.

But what Noem said just moments before the video was taken is "classic authoritarian red-baiting," points out @davidcorn.bsky.social.

"Her mother carried her for nine long months, through burning nights and weeping mornings, through dust, grief, and sirens. And then, birth. But no life to save. Only silence. The doctors stood helpless, mocked by the limits of their hands."

"Trump lost against the Maine governor. He lost against Perkins Coie. He loses 80% of cases in court. Which makes those who’ve capitulated look that much more foolish, because if they’d just fought back, they would've retained what they thought they'd lose and their dignity would still be intact."
Trump forced to concede defeat
Maine's governor promised she'd see Trump in court. She just declared victory.

There’s next to no information about publishing a translation of an 80-yr-old book.

I sent out 3 agent queries today, so we’ll just start there and see I guess!

Your regular reminder Delft’s market square was a surface parking lot as recently as 2004.

A razor-thin coalition (19-18 votes) initiated a six-month pilot to help merchants realize cars don’t spend money, people do.

Years later, no one remembers the controversy or regrets the decision. *Sound on*

I’m an aspiring author/translator and scholar of Manchuria/modern Chinese studies (namely history and literature).

Hello out there! Can anybody hear me? 🤓
