i have experienced so much yearning today before 8:45 in the morning (had a dream i knew my actor crush irl & then felt some type of way toward a stranger at the airport who helped me with my bag but is sadly on a different flight)

i've gotten very little done all month just waiting for my grad school decision to come back but i just planned out a very full and demanding week to be as productive as possible (within reason, self care and mental health>>>) before february ends. fascism works hard but I WILL WORK HARDER BITCH!!!!

of the songs from Lorde's debut, I prefer the triple whammy of Ribs->Buzzcut Season->Team. Royals is a fine song, incredibly influential, but as a song I personally prefer bad guy

I prefer Bad Guy as a song, but I prefer Lorde as an artist overall, and think Royals had a bigger impact

Ughhh i like Lorde more overall (Solar Power notwithstanding), but I think “bad guy” is the better song. Billie might be the more consistent artist, but Lorde has the peaks and my heart. Since this is Song vs. Song though…

Royals is the more important one. In my mind, it had a Smells Like Teen Spirit-sized effect on pop music. It killed (or at least crippled) the late 00s/early 10s dance music boom and shifted pop music in a more dour, introspective direction. (But I prefer Bad Guy as a song.)
