Of course that's a subjective thing, I'm just saying some people genuinely appreciate and enjoy the game beyond just the gacha mechanics.

Genshin definitely has my favorite open world out of all the ones I've experienced. I have a few thousand hours in Skyrim like everyone else (started with Oblivion though), a few hundred in Elden Ring, GTA, etc. but Genshin is my favorite.

I don't think I'll ever forget getting to the top of Dragonspine. It's a harsh journey to get there, the place is beautiful, there's a bunch of mysteries that you organically run into (not part of the quest journal or anything) and finally reaching the top is very satisfying.

The world is also very varied. I'm guessing you mainly experienced Mondstadt which is the first region, but there's jungles, deserts, archipelagos, underwater zones, underground zones, that snowy mountain you probably saw in the distance, all kinds of stuff.

That's a bit different yeah. Though I don't mind either of them. The Genshin approach is to add tons of distractions along the way, and while you make your way to those distractions you run into even more distractions.

I don't think it's the writing specifically. The writing has serious problems. The story and world-building are excellent but the dialogue is bloated and very poorly paced, it's a chore to read sometimes. I was more thinking about the massive open world that's actually fun to explore.

I don't think it's that unreasonable that if someone posts "I don't understand why X" they might get some replies trying to explain X.

Like I said I think even if you never opened the gacha screen it's still one of the best games to have come out in a very long time. There's hundreds of hours of very high quality, hand-crafted content that everyone can access for free, with more added on a regular basis.

You said you don't understand why it's popular and you got some people genuinely trying to explain why it's popular and what people like about the game. Your replies were dismissive as if you were never actually interested.
