Didn't know you also went running at IPES, next time I'd be happy to join if you'd have me.

At the #EUSA conference @eustudies.bsky.social keynote, @katemcnamara.bsky.social just delivered a very stimulating lecture on the emerging EU military-industrial complex. I'm sure this will be much discussed at the reception and beyond after its publication in JEI.

Excited to hear about the EU-US transatlantic relationship from the EU Ambassador at the #EUSA conference in Philadelphia.

Looks like we might finally get an EU-Switzerland #Rahmenabkommen (framework agreement) after all. This would align Switzerland more tightly to the EU and lead to less periodic sectoral deals. A welcome development in times of geopolitical turbulence and economic challenges for the old continent.

Today at @utrechtuniversity.bsky.social the Faculty of Law, Economics & Governance is having its annual impact night. A nifty topic is the 400 year-old perpetual bond issued in 1624 to finance the repair of a dike in the NL. This bond is now owned by the NYSE, who still get interests to this day.

Looks like von der Leyen might conclude agreement on EU-Mercosur today in Montevideo. That would be a good thing, imho. On Twitter, @vonderburchard.bsky.social has a nice thread explaining why (unfortunately not posted here on Bluesky). x.com/vonderburcha...

The Dutch government wants to fine students who take longer for their studies. This is bad for equal opportunity and hurts students who have care duties or face other difficulties. Massive protest today in The Hague @woinactie.bsky.social

Enjoying the view from EUI in Florence. Great location for the IPES conference. Exciting papers so far on trade and international political economy.

Tonight I'm following the results of the Dutch elections in the Utrecht theater venue Tivoli Vredenburg. Good to see so many young people interested in politics. Sadly, there is a clear possibility for PVV and/or NSC to be in the new coalition, posing a threat to NL's stance in the EU.
