Toppling regime after regime in South America? Unimaginable. Stuff of fiction. Just impossible.

Love it. Particularly the cameras part. "as you can see this is the exact point at which a chain of events that would ultimately lead to the collapse of the building began"

Well his made his money off the book now hasn't he....

On <redacted> we had a job code for client art direction. We were able to show how much money had been spent on clients art directing work that had already been art directed by an actual art director. It was literally the "I do it you watch me" design meme. Things changed quick when it had a cost!

Borderline personality disorder.......

Exactly. He's a treason-adjacent racist RIGHT NOW. It's not particularly surprising that he used to be a racist too. Nor is it the more important of the two stories.

The real hero turns out to be a rough around the edges but ultimately reliable Chicago Man. ual

This is also true of reasonable centrist pundit writing style. Opening with, "What big city educated liberals don't get..." lets the reader agree to engage in a shared fiction where all their worst positions are made acceptable by writing them in NY Times language.

Psychology - so are you analysing my personality right now (response = no sorry you're not that interesting)

Marketing - so are you selling me something right now (response = no, I'm not being paid to)

Maybe after I finish this run I should give it another go. Maybe dial down my expectations on the story McGuffins and just enjoy shooting the massive animal shaped robots with a variety of arrows and stuff......

Im halfway through a replay. Such a great game and such an amazing slow burn story....Forbidden West was such a disappointing follow up...

A baboon stole my breakfast from me at the government campsite in Victoria Falls back in the day. I chased after it until a friendly local shouted "If you catch up with that thing you're gonna get F%^ED"

This is a good case study in why you should always eyeball your data. Vietnam as one of the lowest coffee drinking countries in the world?

Whites voted for Dole over Clinton which breaks my mind every time I remember its true. I think you have to go back to before LBJ to find whites breaking Dem in a presidential election (polls vs elections notwithstanding etc and all that).

"Refugees should integrate and continue to British society", ok fine if that's the position how does immediately impoverishing them help achieve that. It's all just such a counter productive mess that does all the things they say they don't want. For zero political advantage AS WELL!

Tom being tied to a stake at dawn shouting "if this was fascism they wouldn't have given me a blindfold". Shots ring out. (please take this as the lighthearted joke intended...)

The absurdity of this is that the simultaneous narrative is Thatcher the Iron Lady made the hard choices that saved us from..... The horrors and privations of the seventies

They certainly didn't on the green card medical form. Take it up with them i guess.

Superb. "I'm an araneologist, and that's only the second nerdiest thing about me." is an outstanding type of person to be!
November 11, 2025 at 12:15 PM
When you get a Green Card as part of the medical you have to get checked for leprosy. So what I'm saying is that I know I DEFINITELY don't have leprosy. Can the rest of you be so sure? I don't think so.

It's amazing that a Republican who grew up in the Norquist era is now saying "tax cuts are contextual". I mean, everyone knew that, but it was absolutely verboten to suggest it for years within the party

So less of an ethics rule and more of an ethics hobby then?

HAHAHAH, our old and dearly departed lab mix named Simon used to work on a principle of 'eat everything you see and then let your stomach decide if it's worth keeping in or not'.
