I had a rubbish day yesterday! Out in the morning with Stillorgan Tidy Towns bi-weekly litter pick and in the afternoon with BeaufieldPark Residents Association @antaisce.bsky.social #nationalspringclean #Stillorgan

If not exactly a “hot” topic, failing sewerage infrastructure troubles the residents of many older suburban housing estates. My letter in today’s Irish Times proposes support for such residents.

On this weekend’s litter pic, the #Stillorgan Tidy Towns group collected a Quinnsworth plastic shopping bag from the 1980s.
It just shows how long these things persist in the environment (if not in the public memory).

This hardy crew braved an early shower and high winds to collect 5 very heavy bags of rubbish in #Stillorgan today.
Lots of heavy metal and glass objects but also lots of insulation, foam, builders gloves, dust masks etc. Thanks to all for your sterling work.
