The Louis Stokes NSF (LSAMP) grant at my college was terminated today. Such a terrible loss for our students and the future of STEM in the US

Drawdown of existing allocated funds should be okay; what's frozen are any new "funding actions"—yearly increments, additions to subawards, etc. Additionally, non-monetary actions like a no cost extension should still be possible.

4/4 But please don't stop with social media.

The NSF union letter has some great messaging tips for making calls & media outreach too (see below).

And don't underestimate the importance of engaging your local communities and media, esp representatives.

The time for action is RIGHT NOW!!

Thanks for your reporting on this. I do STEM education research and this means the community college faculty and students conducting research with us will not be paid for the work they’ve already done, let alone what they’re scheduled to do. Isn’t it illegal to not pay people for contracted labor?

Oooo this resonates. It was in 2000 when I was at COP6 that I first felt deep frustration at our so called leaders and the judiciary, regarding climate action and elections. It hasn’t deterred me, probably lit the fire, to continue to push for action on both fronts to today. Can’t deny, it’s tiring
