Assuming constancy, we'll see 1-2 more civilian murders before February's even arrived.

In an escalating scenario, like Trump is clearly pushing for, the number will likely be even higher.

In South Korea, people forced Congress to impeach and remove Yoon in 2024. We must do the same here in 2026.

The administration would be scared, but autocrats seldom back down when threatened. Instead, they use security forces—and even loyal civilian supporters—to desperately grasp onto power. Whether security forces comply can decide the fate of such regimes.

If Senators don't do something now, we'll only see more of this. I've been warning people that Trump's use of ICE foreshadows part of the regime's midterm election manipulation strategy. It also shows us how Trump will respond if his party does poorly.

So, what do you think?

Are the lessons from South Korea applicable to the US?

Do you think Republicans will decide to impeach Trump, or will they remain loyal even as his cognitive health declines and his election manipulation becomes more overt?

As Americans protest across the country, our message to the GOP becomes ever clearer.

"We don't accept autocrats. If you don't turn on Trump, the people will abandon your party. Do the right thing or face your doom."

They won't all break with MAGA, but Trump may finally be held accountable.

The other moral of the story?

It's time to stop appealing to the GOP's sense of morality. Any morality is subsumed by an existential need for political power.

That's why we need to appeal to their sense of self-preservation. Republicans are vulnerable in 2026. They need votes to survive.

When the next impeachment vote was held, twelve members of the legislature broke with Yoon's party to side with the opposition.

It was far from everyone, but it was enough. Yoon was impeached and removed from office.

The moral of the story? Keep protesting however you can. Resistance matters.

Outraged, more than 150,000 people filled the streets of Seoul, the nation's capital.

Citizens peacefully demonstrated for several days, demanding that Yoon be held accountable.

After a week, Yoon's party realized that failing to impeach the President would lead to its political demise.
