Step 3: antibiotic!

Using meropenem-vaborbactam for this KPC-3 Enterobacter cloacae. Started with a loading dose over 30 minutes, then doing 3-hour extended infusions every 8 hours with the syringe pump.

This ex vivo model is a controlled environment that represents infective endocarditis within the central compartment (where those vegetations with E. cloacae are hanging out)

I’m team CRO… but realizing that it often gets confused with “carbapenem resistant organism” which is how our lab will report it out for those organisms
