I used to play 2Pac’s “Lord Knows” multiple times a day, multiple times in a row (on vinyl!). I wasn’t in the streets like that, though I was definitely outside. Still, his passion spoke to me in an intensely visceral way.

Ironically, I wrote a review praising Mighty Joseph in Paper Thin Walls, my longtime colleague Christopher Weingarten's website with Getty Images. But the site went dark in 2009, so Below System Records probably doesn't know it exists. Luckily, I saved a PDF of it.

Today, I received a press release for a vinyl reissue of Mighty Joseph's underrated 2008 album, "Empire State." Its presale page on belowsystem.com falsely attributes some PR hype I reprinted on my old website, Plugonemag.com, to me.
