From my morning walk, some Thursday purple bloomscrolling and thick trunk Thursday in one photo!
Close up of a tibouchina princess flower bud just beginning to open.below are the bright red brown of newly fallen redwood fronds. Background are redwood trees and a burnt out redwood stump as well as fern. I guess it's hard to see how big the tree trunks are.

Yet more shrooms! It's been raining mushrooms here.
A large tan bolete with it's cap at a jaunty tilt rising out of freshly fallen redwood fronds. Background of fern and salal. I call these scraggley white skinny mushrooms "beansprouts". They are about 4" tall against a dark forest path beside small fern.

More morning walk mushrooms. Can you find the fakes?
A group of large amanita mushrooms surrounded by mianthemum. The mushrooms are red in their centers and orange at the edges. A large bolete mushroom on the left surrounded by fern and salal. On the right are homemade cement mushrooms. They were meant to be comically oversized but they are just the same size as the natural bolete. Behind them is a large redwood tree.

Some mushrooms from my morning walk.

Two large amanita mushrooms under rhododendron foliage. The larger shroom has two giant bites out of it. Truly, the only creature possible would be deer and even then they're too big. A group of pale orange mushrooms. Three are intact and holding water in their "cups". Three have fallen over revealing their pale streaks. I call them golden chalice but they could be chanterelle.

Please wish this girl a happy 10th birthday! Time has flown by since her gotcha day just over 8 years ago. We got a soggy windy walk in this morning and now it's snuggle time!

Some cool mushrooms from today's morning walk. This time of year you don't get blossoms blooming but you do get a wide variety of mushrooms.

From my morning walk, crossing the giant mossy log bridge. I've been afraid to cross it but have been tempted to. Thought I should do it before the moss gets all soggy again this winter.

From a morning walk this week, threading a needle in nature.
A stream bed dry at the moment with river rocks in grays and browns. Atop the rock is a strange tree part propped upright. Kinda looks like a wishbone but the thick part forms a loop of twisted wood. Inside the loop is a long branch, perfectly threading the hole. Background is ferns, salal and redwoods.

Oddity on morning walk. You've heard of forest bathing but what about forest boating?
Very green forest scene of thimbleberries, alder, salal and redwood behind an 8 foot wire fence. Beyond the bushes there is the top half of a boat, probably a fishing vessel. We are 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean so I bet they're not catching fish. Maybe banana slugs?

Hearing a call for dog photos. This one here has taken to stopping where the path is narrow, looking back over her shoulder with a grin and lots of wags and blocking me in until I give her buns or forehead scritches! After I obey she zooms off racing to the next narrow path. #dogsofbluesky
Shiny black McNab mix dog with white front boots, white tip of tail and a white fur "collar" standing between salal and fern looking back as described above. She had a bath Sunday because she rolled in something very stinky so now she is shiny and smells good. Until she finds something else to roll in.

5 medium sized bolete mushrooms. One is alone and free of brush covering in front of four others very close together, tops squishing into each other. The shrooms are surrounded by fresh redwood fronds, wild blackberry and salal.

A black dog with white neck and chest and front boots. She’s got white on the very tip of her tail and a spot between her eyes. Her upright ears look very pink inside and there’s a pink tinge to her neck but that’s just from the sunset she is watching. Two dogs who don’t look very happy about being on a wooden swing bench. The tan dog on the left with upright ears and a light brown nose is looking expectantly towards the photographer’s left. The black and white dog on the right is looking directly at the camera with an expression as if she is plotting revenge for being placed in the swing. The background is assorted bushes and trees. A close up of the white dog with a mostly black head. Her fur looks very soft and it is. She seems to be asking if you are going to give her whatever it is you are eating. I think her brown eyes are sweet but she is otherwise universally regarded as a real bitch.

Bonus glimpse of my massive blueberry bushes.
Assorted hybrid lilies in orange, hot pink, and white with burgundy speckles. All stalks have buds ranging from completely closed to open to falling apart. Redwood trees and a light gray sky in background My recently created assorted daylily bed. The new divisions are still kinda scrawny but I love the blue geraniums and snaps interspersed. The shredded bark mulch really spruces it up, imo. Should be very nice next year. The blue in the left background are felt bags used as pots. The blueberry bushes in the right background have only ripened a handful of berries so far but by end of month should be cooking. Got 22 pounds of berries last year but more than 40 pounds the year before.

A white lily with a profusion of raspberry freckles, almost spatters, concentrated at the inside of the flower and along each petals edge. The bloom is held by a white hand wearing a blue long sleeve. The background is a blur of lichen on a rock.

A few beauties from my garden today.

Mid to late June means daylillies and wild roses at my place.
Maroon daylillies, one at peak bloom and one blooming yesterday but shriveling today. The daylillies have nice medium green thin and long leaves. There's a redwood log as planting bed edging and redwood chips for the pathway. More daylillies with a mauve pink one in foreground and peachy yellow ones in background. The bed is mulched with shredded redwood bark. The blue in the background is from multiple blue felt bags used as pots. Not technically from my garden but wild pink roses that grow anywhere they find sufficient sun amongst the redwood trees. Their blooming season is short but they make beautiful hips that practically glow in midsummer. Same light pink wild roses but here you can appreciate the difference in scale between these tiny blooms and the massive second growth redwoods that surround them. The rose bush is a good 8 feet tall.

Royal Sunset, a longiflorum astatic hybrid lily with upfacing blooms in red with orange centers and dark red stamins. 8 (!) blooms on one stem. Other lily stalks to the left and a wild seeded geranium with hot pink blooms to the right. Redwood chip pathway in background

Yellow LA Hybrid lilies in the foreground, orange ones midground and tight buds on the lily stalks in the background. The orange lily has 12 buds and the yellow put up 18! Several tall lily stalks, tallest at 55". Mostly still in buds but healthy stems and lots of open blooms.

Another for the #bloomscrolling I don't often see yellow rhododendrons. Someone planted a long row of assorted rhododendron along a freeway frontage road. Nice perk of the neighborhood

#bloomscrolling on my morning walk. Wild rhododendron and wild iris.
Pink rhododendron in foreground with widely spaced branches and several bloom clusters preparing to open. Buds are hot pink and partially opened flowers are a lavender pink. Background are several trees mid trunk as the ground slopes down behind the rhodies. Sunny patch of dozens of tiny wild irises. A white dog with a mostly black head is bounding through the irises toward the shadow of the photographer. The dog is smiling, happy to be running around. Closer look at wild irises leaves and blooms. The iris is a very pale lavender, almost white, with a touch of yellow on the falls. Close up of a snapped off wild irises bloom (blame the bounding dog from prior photo) between the fingers of the photographer. This bloom has medium lavender standards and near purple falls. The yellow patches on the falls have darker streaks of purple running through.

From my morning walk, some rare blooms. Forest ginger and wild rhododendron #bloomscrolling
Close up of hard to find forest ginger blossom. The bud is an inch long and has fuzzy hairs on it. It is a slightly redder brown than the dried redwood duff below it. The tips of the petals are longer than the bud itself and they help close the bloom after a pollinator has visited. Here you can barely make out the blossom as it runs along the ground beneath the bright green heart shaped leaves and the little oxolis leaves. I feel triumphant when I spot a forest ginger blossom, most years I do not. A hot pink bud on wild rhododendron in the middle of a redwood forest. The rhody is rather spindly as the redwoods surrounding it block a good bit of direct sun.

Did someone say tiny flower Tuesday? #bloomscrolling Most all the forest flowers are small and they look absolutely teeny next to the redwood trees. From my morning walk
Mianthemum. Teeny pure white flowers on a 3" stem above veined medium green heart shaped leaves. These flowers make gorgeous berries that start out looking like fancy jasper rock and age to a vivid red. I don't know the name of this but I call it pinwheels. The flower stalks are hair thin and the blooms are the size of a single pea. Mostly white flowers but can be a pretty shell pink in sun. The plant is 3"tall. Tiny "pinwheels" bud from a few weeks back. Oxalis leaves with two blossoms and a seed head just forming. The leaves are three hearts joined at the tips. The stems and underside of leaves are wine colored. The blossoms are white with wine colored veins.

Good morning, #bloomscrolling buddies. Is there a prize for tallest calls lily? These guys might win it!
Five calla lilies on a very worn wood floor next to a yardstick. The blooms are still tightly rolled up and green, but the stems are about 5 feet tall Same tall calla lilies but now with 16" of stem cut off and lying next to a strange, tall green vase. The lilies in the vase are about 42" tall. The vase is on an outdoor black metal table next to a dog hammock. There is a large rock in the background covered in mosses and lichens and topped by ferns and native shrubs.

Bloomscrolling on my morning walk. All these trillium started out pure white but there is a wide range of colors as the flowers fade. I don't know if they are different varieties.

I still think I am so lucky to I've in the most beautiful place in the world
Trinidad CA harbor shot with the ocean displaying several shades of blue. Several sea stack rocks protrude from the water and are surrounded by white foam from the waves that crash against the rocks. The forested hills behind are shrouded in mists and the light blue sky is full of grey and white clouds.
