My first birds of the day were American Crows. Actually they were some of the only birds I saw today. They're intelligent, creative and community minded. I'm going to take that as a good sign for 2025

Great Frigatebirds are aerial acrobats and will often steal meals from other seabirds. Great Frigatebird chicks take a long time to develop, fledging in 4-6 months, depending on food supply.

I took advantage of the warm day to head outside for a sit on the deck and I noticed spruce cones falling all around me.
I hadn’t seen them for a few years, but here they were … Crossbills!
This juvenile male White-winged Crossbill came down to eat his prized cone in the late afternoon light!
