Became a journalist at 40, in this city that's given me a 1,000 chances to start, fail, and start again. It's been an education. Not sure I belong with the incredible group so honored by the Baltimore City Historical Society, but I am grateful—no award or recognition could mean more to me 🙏.

Really cool event this weekend celebrating long, long, long time arabber Donald “China” Waugh’s 90th birthday - and 200 years of arabbing in this city. Amazing life, amazing Baltimore tradition. Shoutout to UMBC’s Public Humanities folks, The Arabber Preservation Society, and Stable Baltimore🐴🍎🍉🍌

Hannity calls out "the left" for blaming mass shootings on guns while he advocates for metal detectors.

What does he think metal detectors detect?

Trump: “I’m not walking in Baltimore. Baltimore is a hellhole.”

U.S cities do have struggling neighborhoods, mostly because we’ve chosen to fund sprawl and white flight for the past half century-plus.

Meanwhile, Baltimore’s Patterson Park on a typical afternoon this week.

This looks wrong to everyone except someone born a Mets fan in north New Jersey and then moved to Baltimore and has spent the past 35 years rooting for the Orioles and Mets. To me, it’s my two baseball worlds finally in harmony.

Hit up Icelandic Punk Rock Museum on recent layover in Reykjavik and of course stumbled across a sticker pasted there made by legendary Baltimore tattoo artist Bill Stevenson aka “Bill Waverly” (cause he’s grew up in Waverly 😉). Little reminder that wherever you go, Baltimore goes with you …

Pedaled from Dunkirk to Calais, France to see my favorite Rodin sculpture - “The Burgers of Calais” - based on events of 1346 when six town leaders offered themselves up for execution to the King of England so that the lives of its inhabitants would be spared after a siege during The Hundreds’ War.

Little morning swim and preview for the Waterfront Partnership’s third Baltimore “Harbor Splash” June 21. The work continues, but this city has made incredible strides in improving the water quality in our crown jewel. #BaltimoreIsBeautiful

Liked old Artscape, liked this Artscape. Repurposing City Hall plaza into concert venue worked, so did repurposing War Memorial into Scout Art Fair. Sondheim semifinalists show at Peale, a good fit, so were films and conversations at Center Stage. Those food lines, though. Thankfully ate beforehand…

Happening now: The American Visionary Art Museum’s annual, all-day Kinetic Sculpture Race reaches Patterson Park and the “sand pit” obstacle. Some city. Some fun. #Baltimore
